Marge Piercy, a bestselling author, was the featured poet at the Second Annual Judith O'Connell Hoyer '65 Poetry Reading on April 7th, 2016 at
2:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Blue Lounge, First Floor.
Marge Piercy is an author of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. She is the author of nineteen volumes of poetry, seventeen novels, her recent short story collection, The Cost of Lunch, Etc., and nonfiction books, including her memoir, Sleeping with Cats.
Born in 1936, Piercy graduated from The University of Michigan, earned her MA from Northwestern University. amd has received four honorary doctorates.
She lectures frequently on college campuses and appears regularly on television and the radio. Her appearances include Air America, Bill Moyers's PBS Specials, Oprah & Friends, and The Today Show,.
The reading, which was free and open to the public, was generously supported by the Worcester State Foundation's Judith O'Connell Hoyer '65 Poetry Series Fund, Worcester State University's Theme Semester, English Department, Women's Studies program, Honors Program, Alumni Association and the Worcester County Poetry Association.
