This official app is free (no ads!), syncs your history across devices, and brings you the newest model improvements from OpenAI. The app uses the free ChatGPT v.3.5 by default, or select v. 4 at a subscription cost of $20/monthly. OpenAI includes its speech recognition system, Whisper, for English to their native app. NOTE: the app is limited to phones that can run the iOS 16.1 operating system, which means iPhone 8 or newer hardware models.

This app requires obtaining an API key from OpenAI. After creating a ChatGPT account, go to platform.openai.com and log into your ChatGPT account. Open the Personal account menu and select "View API Keys" to "create new secret key" to connect the app to ChatGPT.
