Nursing & Medicine Research Guide: Gateway Sites to Resources

A good starting point for research in medical fields.

What is a Gateway Site?

These are "gateway" sites: they don't have medical information, but link you to sites that do. Less exciting than TV's Scrubs, but more practical.

Recommended Gateway Sites

  • Partners in Information Access for the Public Health Workforce (PHPartners) - A collaboration of U.S. government agencies, public health organizations and health sciences libraries helping the public health workforce find and use information effectively to improve and protect the public's health. Provides up-to-date information and news on public health topics, Health Data Tools & Statistics for states, counties, and localities, and much more!
  • All Nurses - "It's how Nurses surf the Web"
  • Healio - Designed as an in-depth specialty clinical information website, Healio.com features news reporting, dynamic multimedia, question-and-answer columns, CME and other educational activities in a variety of formats, quick reference content, blogs, peer-reviewed journals and a full line of popular book titles. Published by SLACK Incorporated, a health care communications company
  • MedHunt - from the Health on the Net (HON) Foundation, Switzerland. International, non-profit portal for medical information.
  • Omni Medical Search - Basic search (for lay public) and Med Pro version for professionals. Searches Web sites, images, and medical news sources; also pointers to 72 medical databases, medical journals, medical associations and more.
